“Face To Face”
COMING THIS CHRISTMAS
FACE TO FACE
Artist: Aly Aleigha
Genre: Holiday, Christmas, Contemporary Christian
Lyrics
Verse 1:
Can’t be ready unless you get ready
Tell me, what does it take?
Obstacles come against me but you never forget me
You’re always holding my name
Pre-Chorus:
And when I finally
See you as you are and let you see me as I am…
Chorus:
I see it now why you’re soft in your speaking
When hearts beg for concealing
You’re revealing mine
Your sweetest gaze draws me out from hiding
Standing face to face
Verse 2:
Fear to Fiat, emboldened by your love
I’ll stand tall, you’re beside me
With you my strength evolves
Pre-Chorus:
And when I finally
See you as you are and let you see me as I am…
Chorus:
I see it now why you’re soft in your speaking
When hearts beg for concealing
You’re revealing mine
Your sweetest gaze draws me out from hiding
Standing face to face
Post-Chorus 1:
You carry me from the flames
You do whatever it takes
How can I prepare my heart
For your embrace
Bridge:
Cheek to cheek, under the brightest star
Mmmmmmm
Thinking back on our story, Oh how we’ve come so far
And I listen now to the sound of your silent love
Now I see after all this, that was always enough
Chorus:
I see it now why you’re soft in your speaking
When hearts beg for concealing
You’re revealing mine
Your sweetest gaze draws me out from hiding
Standing face to face
Post-Chorus 2:
Fear, it has no place
I found where I’ve always belonged
In your embrace
About the Song
Fr. Mike Schmitz and Aly Aleigha have been working together for years, Aly often providing music for retreats and events for the Diocese of Duluth and UMD Newman Center. At the summer camp in 2024, Fr. Mike approached Aly asking if she would consider writing a song to go along with the Advent series he would be doing with Ascension. Aly said she’d give it a shot; Fr. Mike told her about the series and sent example recordings, and Aly began praying with it until the song “Face To Face” was born.
